American Muscle

Cars, car art, and car culture.
Vintage NASCAR, NHRA, and Trans-Am Racing.

Unless otherwise noted, I do not have any ownership of the photos shown. I will always try to link back to the original photo or article. If you would like something removed, feel free to send me a message and I will remove it as soon as possible. AND...I will probably reblog photos of Angelina Jolie everytime!

KING OF THE SLEEPERS
This is one of three 1966 Hemi Coronet 4-doors know to exist.
Mopar Magazine believed this was the only one to be built until a reader wrote in statingthat his father not only purchased one new, his mother still had it in her yard. The magazine checked it out and the car (I believe it’s the Red one shown) did indeed exist. The car was originally purchased to tow an Airstream travel trailer. The family lived in a small town in Ohio and the father would go past a guy in the same car, different color, every morning on his way to work. Talk about a small world!
Years later someone found one in a junk yard, minus engine but the VIN was correct…..you never know.
The third is owned by Don Garlits.  It is tan and was first purchased by the U.S. Government for the Bureau of A.F.T. (Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco).
